Kenyan Geoffrey Kipkorir Kirui became the world’s first marathon champion Sunday in London, ahead of Ethiopian Tamirat Tola and Tanzanian Alphonse Felix Simbu.
Within the framework of Athletics World Championships which takes place in London from Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 August 2017, Goeffrey Kipkorir Kirui is the new world marathon champion.
On the streets of London, Kenyan swallowed the 42.195 kilometers in 2:08:27 « on Sunday, surpassing the Ethiopian Tamirat Tola and the Tanzanian Alphonce Felix Simbu by more than a minute.
Kirui conquered for the first time the title of world champion. He had won the Boston marathon last April.
