The 12-team tournament in Bamako will take place from Friday 18 to Sunday 27 August. The Cameroonians will face at first in Group A Mali, Angola, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia.
Coach Pepouna Souleyman acknowledges the challenge that is on their way.
« It’s a tough group, » said Souleyman. « Mali is a basketball nation, and then Angola, which has already won two continental titles, has a great team, Côte d’Ivoire is a regular and it has participated in almost all the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket (She missed the qualification two years ago) The Central African Republic is a little unknown, but it beat the Democratic Republic of Congo in the playoffs, and finally there is Tunisia, which is undergoing a reconstruction.
But Souleyman hastened to emphasize: « We have the means to compete with all. »
